50 days of street repaving is coming to Lacey in August

Lacey City Council has awarded a contract of just under $2.4 million to repave area streets this summer. The work is set to begin in August.

Lakeside Industries of Lacey was the winning bidder.

The streets to be repaved:

Sections of Marvin Road Northeast, north and south of Hawks Prairie Road.

Galaxy Drive Northeast and Quinault Drive.

Royal Street Southeast.

Campus Highlands Drive Northeast.

Nelson Road Southeast.

43rd Avenue Southeast and parts of Arbor Drive Southeast.

Another $2.2 million in repaving was planned for 2022, but the work was delayed because it also involved utility improvements that require ductile iron pipe, Public Works Director Scott Egger told the council.

Shipments of the pipe have been delayed by supply chain problems, he said.

He said the city is now planning to put the additional work out to bid in the fall. The pipe should arrive over the winter and then the city will proceed with the repaving/utility work in the spring, Egger said.
