Fire destroyed a Trosper Road home Monday night and damaged a 100-foot fir tree, generating 911 calls throughout Tumwater about smoke in the area, the Tumwater Fire Chief said Tuesday.

Tumwater fire crews were dispatched to the 2300 block of Trosper Road Southwest about 8:15 p.m. Monday after a report of a small structure fire, which was later upgraded to a residential structure fire, Chief Brian Hurley said.

Fire crews accessed the blaze, which spread to the large tree, through a manufactured home park next door, he said.

Hurley did not have a fire damage estimate, but he described the interior as gutted by fire and a total loss. Someone had been living in the home, but no one was injured, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Hurley said.

Fire damage was limited to the home and tree, he said.

Olympia, McLane/Black Lake and East Olympia fire departments also responded to the blaze.

The 2300 block of Trosper Road Southwest was in the news last month when Tumwater police responded to a shooting in the same area.
