A man who was found dead underneath a vehicle in Olympia Aug. 27 was crushed by the vehicle, according to a cause of death released by the Thurston County Coroner.

Seth Parker, 33, of Olympia died as a result of “traumatic asphyxia due to crushing,” Coroner Gary Warnock said Thursday.

About 1 p.m. Aug. 27, Olympia police were dispatched to the 500 block of Devoe Street Southeast. Police arrived to find the man under the vehicle, which appeared to have fallen on him.

They noticed that a vehicle jack was sitting off to one side, Lt. Paul Lower told The Olympian earlier this week.

There was no additional trauma to the body that might be considered criminal, and no witnesses to explain what he was doing there, he said.
