A 56-year-old Shelton man was injured and taken to an area hospital Monday afternoon after the garbage truck he was driving tipped over, according to Washington State Patrol.

About 1:30 p.m., the Shelton driver was headed south on state Route 3 near the town of Gorst when the blowout caused the vehicle to lose control. Troopers say the truck swerved into one lane, then back into another before the garbage hauler tipped over on to its left side.

The road was blocked for about 90 minutes so the truck could be removed.

The injured Shelton driver was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, according to State Patrol.
