Don’t call this library number. It’s been picked up by scammers, officials say

The Timberland Regional Library was notified Thursday that its Ask a Librarian phone number, which was retired earlier this year, is now being used by scammers trying to obtain credit card information.

The library system sent out a news release on Friday, Sept. 16, warning library card holders not to use the number, 1-800-562-6022, which is still listed on the back of dark green library cards and other materials, including brochures and handouts. People also should not answer calls from that number.

The releases says the library network will never ask for credit card information over the phone.

Timberland urges users to contact their local library branch with any questions. TRL services Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific and Thurston counties with 27 public libraries.
