136-room hotel has been pitched for Lacey north of I-5
Hawks Prairie north of I-5, an area of Lacey already teeming with development, is about to get its first hotel, according to city information.
The city has received a site plan review application for a Residence Inn by Marriott that has been pitched for Britton Plaza at 2565 Marvin Road NE. Britton Plaza is a commercial development near the second roundabout at Marvin Road Northeast and Britton Parkway.
The developer intends to build a 136-room hotel at the site, totaling about 115,650 square feet. It also will have a parking lot with 128 parking stalls. The developer, too, is seeking to alter a binding site plan to combine two lots for the project.
Work on the hotel will take place in 2022-2023, according to the city information.
The Lacey area north of I-5 is home to all kinds of development, including warehouses, apartments and single-family residences, but this would be the first hotel. Hawks Prairie does have hotels south of the freeway.
It’s the first hotel to be pitched in the city since a Best Western was built on Quinault Drive about a decade ago. Most hotel development in recent years has taken place in Olympia, including two at Henderson Boulevard and I-5. One of those properties is complete and open, while the other is under construction.
A developer also has proposed a boutique hotel in downtown Olympia.
Lacey received the application materials in August and they were deemed complete on Sept. 9. The public comment period ends at 5 p.m. Sept. 23.
