A 35-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday following a wreck on northbound I-5 in Lewis County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 2:50 p.m., Kyle S. Fanning of Chehalis was on his motorcycle and headed north.

In the area of milepost 75, troopers say he changed lanes multiple times, then “accelerated at a rapid rate.”

As he accelerated, a 73-year-old Winlock woman changed lanes and Fanning crashed into the rear of her vehicle.

Fanning later died at Providence Centralia Hospital.

The Winlock woman also was injured and taken to the same hospital.
