Grays Harbor County driver killed Monday morning was wife of State Rep. Walsh
A 58-year-old woman who was killed Monday morning when she crashed her car into a loaded log truck was the wife of a state representative, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The woman, who died at the scene, was identified as Jamie M. Walsh of Aberdeen, the wife of 19th Legislative District Rep. Jim Walsh, according to the Chinook Observer.
About 10:40 a.m. Monday, Walsh was headed south on U.S. 101, south of Cosmopolis, as a log truck was headed north. Troopers say Walsh crossed the center line and crashed into it. The wreck is under investigation.
The 60-year-old Aberdeen man driving the truck was not injured.
House Republican Leader J.T. Wilcox issued a statement regarding the crash, according to the Chinook Observer.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Jamie Walsh,” Wilcox wrote. “Anyone who knew her got to see, firsthand, that she was a phenomenal mother and wife. Jamie and Jim were an amazing team and raised outstanding children. Jamie was energetic, motivated, and dedicated to helping Jim do what was best for their community and state. This is a tragic loss on so many levels.
“On behalf of the House Republican Caucus, we offer our condolences to Jim, his children and all of Jamie’s family. We wish them peace and strength during this incredibly difficult time.”
