A four-vehicle collision caused minor injuries but shut down U.S. Highway 101 on Friday morning in Olympia. One of the vehicles, a log truck, was fully blocking the highway after the crash.

Washington State Trooper John Datillo said the wreck was reported at 7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9 near Mud Bay Road Northwest. The log truck tipped over and spilled, causing logs to spill over one side of the highway.

Traffic in both directions was diverted off the highway with help from the Washington state Department of Transportation. Northbound travelers were directed to Evergreen Parkway Northwest and southbound to Mud Bay.

Two people were sent to an area hospital with minor injuries. Datillo said the road was expected to be closed for a while.

Olympia School District families were notified that the closure was delaying morning bus routes districtwide.
