Tuesday morning fire damages Olympia apartments, displaces residents

Fire damaged an east Olympia apartment complex and displaced some residents Tuesday morning.

About 6:45 a.m., Olympia Fire Department crews were dispatched to the Ashwood Downs apartments, which are south of 18th Avenue Southeast and near Hoffman Road.

The fire appears to have started on the second floor, then spread to the third floor and attic, fire officials said via social media.

No injuries were reported, although residents of nine apartments have been displaced, fire officials said.

“Red Cross has been called to assist with emergency housing,” the fire officials said.

Fire investigators and building officials were at the scene beginning their work Tuesday.
