A 22-year-old man was shot in the back following a fight between three people in downtown Olympia early Saturday morning, according to police.

The man was being treated at Tacoma General Hospital on Monday.

About 1:50 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, police were dispatched to a downtown parking lot on Fourth Avenue near the now-closed restaurant King Solomon’s Reef, Olympia Police Lt. Paul Lower told The Olympian.

As officers arrived, they could see people running from the area, saying that shots had been fired. Police later found blood at the scene, then learned the person who was shot had been dropped off at MultiCare Capital Medical Center in west Olympia.

The man and woman who reportedly dropped off the man at the hospital did not stick around, Lower said.

Although police had trouble getting information from witnesses, they did learn a fight between two men that started at a nearby bar had spilled outside. The two men continued to fight until a third man joined the melee.

Police think the third man fired the gun, Lower said.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Olympia police at 360-753-8300.
