Motorcyclist dies in two-vehicle crash near Maytown Wednesday, Sheriff’s Office says
A motorcyclist died after colliding with another vehicle in south Thurston County on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Reeder Road Southwest and 137th Trail just south of Maytown, Thurston County Sheriff’s Lt. Cameron Simper told The Olympian.
Deputies and medics responded to the collision, but Simper said the motorcyclist died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, a Honda CRV, was uninjured, he said.
Both drivers were adult males and the only occupants of either vehicle, he said.
The cause of the collision remained under investigation Wednesday afternoon. Simper said he could not share additional details about the victim because he was awaiting a report on the crash.
However, Simper did say it appeared the motorcyclist was traveling south when it struck the driver-side door of the Honda CRV as it was turning north onto Reeder Road.
The road was closed for about two hours after the collision, Simper said.
