New biz opens downtown, gravel mine proposed in county, major project pitched in Tumwater
Ethos Custom Jewelry owner Nicole Teut, who has been selling custom made jewelry online since 2016, opened her first storefront this week in downtown Olympia at 203 Fourth Ave. W., across from the restaurant Cascadia.
Teut is a jeweler, lapidary and artist, using her skills to produce custom orders, make repairs, or to take old jewelry and revamp it into something new, she said.
“I’m just passionate about what I do,” Teut said. “I enjoy going through the process with my customers and see the joy that they get out of it. It’s just really fun.”
What keeps her busiest? Mostly engagement rings, both classic and trending styles of rings and men’s bands. And her business is about to get busy as she ramps up to wedding season, she said.
Her total space measures a little more than 900 square feet, but 600 square feet of that is her showroom. The remaining space is for manufacturing, she said.
The name of her business also reflects her desire to offer ethically sourced materials, such as fairmined gold, which she says promotes the health, safety and equal pay for artisinal miners in developing countries. In addition, she offers recycled gold and platinum.
Ethos Custom Jewelry is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. A grand opening party is set for 6-8 p.m. April 8.
