Central Mason Fire and EMS were dispatched on April 1 to reports of a parachutist stuck in a tree. The news release from the department made it clear it wasn’t an April Fools joke.

“No fooling, on April 1st, 2023, Central Mason Fire was dispatched for a parachutist stuck in a tree,” the news release said. “Engine and medic crews responded along with our Battalion Chief and ladder truck to find a male who landed next to Mason County Recreational Area high in a tree.”

The man had managed to avoid hitting power lines and was uninjured, according to the news release. But he did need help getting untangled and down from the tree, so crews had to deploy a 35-foot ladder.
