No one is running for these Thurston offices up for election in 2023. Here’s what happens now

A special three-day filing period will be held Wednesday, May 24, through Friday, May 26, to allow residents to file paperwork to run for elected offices that had no candidates when the official filing period ended last week, the Thurston County Auditor’s Office announced.

According to a news release, open positions include:

Bucoda Town Council, Position No. 4

Tenino City Council, Position No. 5

West Thurston Regional Fire District Fire Commissioner, Littlerock, Position No. 2.

Park Commissioner, Tanglewilde Parks & Recreation, District 1, Positions No. 2, 3, and 4.

The positions have no filing fee, according to the release. Filing begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday and closes at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Online at ThurstonWAVotes.gov.

By fax at 360-754-4591.

By email at elections@co.thurston.wa.us.

In person at the Auditor’s Elections Office, 2400 Evergreen Park Drive SW, Olympia.

By mail to Thurston County Auditor’s Elections Office, 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW, Olympia, WA 98502.

The order of candidates on the ballot will be determined by random lot draw held shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 26. The drawing will be held at the Auditor’s Elections Office. Candidates or other interested parties are welcome to attend.
