Head-on crash in Mason County Friday evening sends both drivers to Harborview

Two Mason County drivers were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Friday evening after they crashed head on while traveling on State Route 3 near Grapeview.

A 36-year-old Belfair man was driving his Jeep Wrangler north on SR3 near Dawn Drive just before 8 p.m. and a 37-year-old Shelton woman was driving her Nissan Murano south when the Wrangler crossed the center line and hit the Murano. The Wrangler came to rest in the northbound lane, while the Murano ended up on the southbound shoulder.

Both drivers were seriously injured, and both vehicles were totaled. But a 2-year-old boy in the Murano was not injured. All were wearing their seatbelts.
