A crash between a car and semi-truck on northbound I-5 slowed traffic for hours Wednesday morning, according to Washington State Patrol and the state Department of Transportation.
The crash was first reported after 5 a.m. in the area of Mounts Road, near DuPont, and was still being cleared about 9 a.m., WSDOT officials said.
About 5:15 a.m., troopers were dispatched to the wreck in which the semi-truck appeared to have rear-ended the car. The truck’s cab and trailer rolled over as a result of the collision, Trooper John Dattilo said.
The 24-year-woman driving the car was injured and taken to an area hospital where she is in critical condition, he said. The 57-year-old woman driving the truck also was injured and hospitalized. Her condition was not immediately known.
The wreck reduced traffic to one lane and the backup extended from the Mounts Road area to Tumwater.
