A Thurston County motorcyclist was flown to a Vancouver, Washington, hospital after crashing on U.S. Highway 101 Friday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

At 6:15 a.m., the 31-year-old Rochester man was headed north on U.S. 101 in Pacific County, east of Willapa Bay. Troopers say the man was driving at a “high rate” when he lost control of the motorcycle and wound up in a southbound ditch.

The State Patrol reported the cause of the crash as “speeds too fast for conditions.”

The Rochester man was airlifted to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver.
