Multiple pets died early Monday as a result of an overnight Lacey house fire.

Concerned neighbors made 911 calls reporting smoke coming out of the eaves of the house in the 4700 block of Eighth Avenue Northeast, northeast of North Thurston High School, and saying the front door felt warm to the touch.

Lacey Fire District 3 was dispatched to the scene at 12:01 a.m., according to Lacey Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Fox.

During the search and extinguish process, firefighters pulled multiple pets from the home. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and none of the pets survived.

Fox said there were no people in the house during the fire, but the residents were located quickly and came to the scene.

He said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
