Private crews are expected to conduct prescribed burns on private property at 8410 Old Highway 99 SE this week.

Drivers on Old Highway 99 can expect minor traffic delays Thursday and Friday, Aug. 10-11, caused by prescribed burns. The delays will be on the highway north of 93rd Avenue Southeast.

If wind conditions permit, burns are expected to place on a private property at 8410 Old Highway 99 SE. Smoke may drift into view or cause the area to smell, and distract drivers. Tumwater officials encourage drivers to find alternative routes or navigate the roads carefully.

A private crew that manages prescribed burns will monitor the fire. Prescribed burning helps maintain a healthy ecosystem.

Those concerned about smoke should call non-emergency dispatch at 360-704-2740 or Tumwater Fire Department at 360-754-4170.
