Got business with Thurston County on Thursday? Plan around this closure if you can
Those with business at Thurston County offices and departments should plan their visit around a brief closure Thursday afternoon.
The county plans to close all its facilities for about 15-20 minutes starting at 1 p.m. Thursday, according to a Wednesday news release. During that time, all county employees will take part in an emergency training drill that requires all facilities to be evacuated.
Any visitors may wait in the outside gathering areas for the duration of the drill, according to the news release. Alternatively, visitors can leave and return once the drill is complete.
Thurston County has facilities throughout the region. Most of its public facing offices and departments are located at The Atrium on 3000 Pacific Avenue Southeast in Olympia.
The county completed its move to the Atrium in December. It includes the following offices and departments:
- Board of County Commissioners
- Assessor’s Office
- Auditor’s Office
- Treasurer’s Office
- Community Planning and Economic Development (CPED)
- Public Works Development Review
- Public Health and Social Services Environmental Health Permit Review
- Central Services Administration and Accounting
- Board of Equalization Information Technology
- Geodata
- Human Resources
The above offices and departments moved from the county’s old courthouse campus on Lakeridge Drive. That campus is still being reconfigured and upgraded into a law and justice center, which includes the following courts and offices:
- Superior Court
- District Court
- Drug Court
- Resource Hub
- Clerk’s Office
- Pre-Trial Services
- The Criminal and Civil Divisions of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office
- Public Defense
- The Sheriff’s Office
More information on the county’s reorganization plans can be found on its website.
