A woman thought to be in her 30s suffered smoke inhalation after her studio apartment was damaged by fire, according to Lacey Fire District 3.

About 4:30 a.m. Sept. 24, fire crews were dispatched to the apartment attached to a garage in the 3800 block of Long Lake Loop Southeast, Battalion Chief Tim Hulse said.

The woman woke up to smoke and flames, he said. She then exited the residence to the rear, broke through a fence and came around front.

Hulse said the woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, then treated again and released the same day at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

The fire is under investigation, he said. As for the apartment, the living space is no longer habitable because of the fire damage.

He said the woman was connected to services offered by Red Cross.
