A 54-year-old Federal Way woman, suspected of driving under the influence, is facing a vehicular homicide charge after she drove the wrong way on state Route 16 near Gig Harbor and crashed into a motorcyclist, according to Washington State Patrol.

The 30-year-old Shelton woman, who has yet to be identified, died at the scene. The Federal Way woman was injured and taken to an area hospital.

About 1 a.m. Saturday, the Shelton woman was headed east on state Route 16 at Rosedale Road. Troopers say the Federal Way woman was headed west in the eastbound lanes and crashed head-on into the motorcycle.

Following the wreck, the road was blocked for more than five hours, according to State Patrol.
