Why were there so many police vehicles in west Olympia Saturday night?
If you live at or near the Courtside Apartments in west Olympia, you might be wondering why there were so many police vehicles in the area Saturday night.
Police were in the area about 10 p.m. to respond to a domestic violence-related call, but then had to remain in the area for about two hours because they had to wait for a search warrant and then entered an apartment in the area, Lt. Paul Lower said.
The Courtside Apartments are in the 600 block of Courtside Street Southwest, not far from MultiCare Capital Medical Center. Lower said there are a number of apartments in the area.
Police were dispatched because a 22-year-old man had allegedly violated a no-contact order. A woman who answered the door denied that the man was there, according to police, but another man in the apartment said he was.
Police finally entered the apartment about midnight and found the man allegedly hiding in a hollowed-out dresser, Lower said.
The man was arrested on suspicion of violating the no-contact order and residential burglary/domestic violence for entering the apartment, Lower said.
