A 31-year-old Seattle man suspected of driving under the influence injured an Olympia driver on Interstate 5 Thursday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 10:25 p.m. Thursday, the Seattle man was headed north on I-5 in Lacey, approaching the Marvin Road overpass. Troopers say he drove off the road to the left, struck a cable barrier, went through the freeway median and crashed into the Olympia man driving south.

The injured 44-year-old Olympia man was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. The Seattle man was not hurt, but is now facing a vehicular assault charge because of the suspected DUI, according to State Patrol.

Traffic was slowed in the area for more than three hours following the wreck, State Patrol reports.
