Wind and rain blast the South Sound and it’s not over yet, weather forecasters say

Now is your chance to travel someplace warm and sunny. Gloomy and rainy conditions are expected throughout the South Sound and western Washington, forecasters say.

Wind gusts as high as 53 in Tacoma and 51 in Olympia were reported between Friday evening and Saturday morning. Reports of scattered power outages followed, and the state Department of Transportation reported downed trees along Highway 101 on the Olympic Peninsula.

The National Weather Service expects rain to persist until Friday, Nov. 17.

Rain and thunderstorms are possible on Veteran’s Day. There is a 50 percent chance of rain the following day.

Rain will fall Monday, with a high near 50 degrees. There is a 30 percent chance of rain Tuesday, with a high near 46 degrees.

There is a chance of rain Wednesday, and the sun may partly shine. There is a slight chance of rain Thursday, and the sun may shine most of the day.

There is a chance of rain Friday, with a high near 47 degrees.
