Update: The state Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that this weekend work has been canceled. It will be rescheduled.

Daytime travelers who use Interstate 5 in Tumwater will want to build extra time into their trips this weekend, the state Department of Transportation announced.

From 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, crews will close the left lane of I-5 in both directions between milepost 104 and milepost 105, near the US 101 interchange, to repair the center barrier.

Work is set to take place during the day because driver behavior is generally safer, and crews and work zone signs are more easily seen, according to WSDOT.
