The skeletal remains of a man were found in northeast Olympia earlier this month, but the Thurston County Coroner is not releasing his name because the coroner has been unable to reach next of kin.

About 11:30 a.m. Nov. 8, Olympia police and coroner’s office staff were called to a wooded area near the 1100 block of Pear Street Northeast. There they found the decomposed remains and a single tent, Coroner Gary Warnock said.

The man who died was 58, Warnock said.

The cause of death will require more investigation. The remains will be sent to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office and be reviewed by a state anthropologist, he said.
