A male pedestrian died Sunday evening when he was hit by a car near the south end of Pattison Lake.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Brooks said deputies and Lacey Fire District 3 were dispatched at around 7:10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, to reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle near the corner of Yelm Highway Southeast and Spurgeon Creek Road.

Lacey Fire deputy chief Jennifer Schmidt said the pedestrian stepped out in front of the car. She said the driver of the vehicle called 911.

Brooks said CPR was conducted on the person before units arrived. Emergency personnel continued CPR, but it was unsuccessful, and the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was shut down for several hours.

Brooks said there was no indication that the vehicle driver was intoxicated or had been driving recklessly. There isn’t a crime being investigated, he said, and no one was arrested.

The man who was killed has not yet been identified.
