THE AMERICAN RED CROSS MOUNT RAINIER CHAPTER needs volunteers to support military service members and military families with emergency communications and casework services. Call 360-352-8575.

LONG-TERM OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM needs volunteers with at least four hours a week to spare and dependable transportation to listen to the concerns and questions of residents in nursing homes, assisted living facilities or adult family homes. SOUTH SOUND ESTUARIUM MARINE LIFE DISCOVERY CENTER needs volunteers to staff the center at 608 Washington St. NE Volunteers can sign up for three-hour shifts: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. or 1-4 p.m., Thursdays through Sundays. For more information, contact Lisa Anderson at andersolis@cwu.EDU.

THE THURSTON COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO EMERGENCY SERVICE TEAM needs volunteers who want to help their neighbors and the community during disasters, and who enjoy or are interested in learning about ham radio. Volunteers can earn their technician license as part of training. NORTHWEST LIONS EYEGLASS RECYCLING CENTER (lionsnwlerc.org) in Lacey needs volunteers to staff the nonprofit that supplies used eyeglasses to those who do medical missions for the needy throughout the world. Volunteers inspect and wash glasses, determine prescriptions, and prepare them for shipment. It also needs volunteers to serve in staff positions.
