An unidentified driver, now facing felony hit-and-run charges, triggered a multiple-vehicle wreck in both directions of Interstate 5 near Lacey Monday afternoon, according to Washington State Patrol.

About 1:15 p.m. Monday, the driver and the unidentified vehicle were headed south on I-5 near Marvin Road.

Troopers say the driver made a lane change and crashed into another southbound car. The second car then crashed into a third southbound vehicle, which sent it across the median into northbound traffic where it crashed into two more cars, according to State Patrol.

The unidentified driver who caused the crash continued driving south, troopers say.

One person was injured: A 41-year-old Tacoma woman was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

A 27-year-old Tacoma man, a 70-year-old Indiana man and a 71-year-old Enumclaw man were not injured, according to State Patrol.

Traffic was blocked for three hours.
