What is under construction at Lacey RAC? Here’s what to know, how long will it will take

If you’ve passed the intersection of Marvin Road Southeast and Steilacoom Road recently, you may have noticed a large construction site at the northwest corner of Lacey’s Regional Athletic Complex, or RAC.

The multi-year, multi-million dollar project’s main goal is to replace a gravel parking lot with an asphalt lot that can accommodate 350-400 vehicles, according to the city of Lacey.

The project started last year and is slated for completion by June 2024.

Stormwater management, EV charging, irrigation, lighting, fireproofing and landscaping are also included in the project.

Although most of the construction won’t interfere with the RAC’s ongoing activities that include soccer, softball and more, there will be some intermittent closures of RAC entrances.

Updates of entrance closures and other information can be found on the project website. The contract is being carried out by Lakewood-based Miles Resources, LLC.
