Thousands were without power Friday morning in the Tumwater and Rochester areas due to an equipment failure, according to Puget Sound Energy.

Gerald Tracy with PSE said the outage could last into the afternoon.

Tracy said there were 12,341 PSE customers without power as of 9 a.m. Friday morning. He said the equipment failure was not weather related.

The outage areas started south of Trosper Road in Tumwater and expanded south and west into Delphi, Rochester and Grand Mound.

He said PSE will be working to get critical customers back up first. Updates on the outage can be found using PSE’s online outage map.
