A male driver left the scene of a two-vehicle wreck on foot Monday night and now faces a felony hit-and-run charge, according to Washington State Patrol.

His passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Chehalis, was injured and taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, according to State Patrol.

About 11:55 p.m. Monday, the male driver, whose age was not known, and the Chehalis woman were headed south on I-5 near Maytown in southern Thurston County.

Troopers say he drove off the road and struck a right-side barrier, then re-entered the freeway facing the wrong way. His vehicle was then struck by a 56-year-old Roy man driving a semi-trailer, according to State Patrol.

The collision caused the car to hit the barrier again, troopers say. The semi-truck stopped on the right shoulder. The truck driver was not injured, according to State Patrol.

One lane of the freeway was closed for about six hours.
