A 73-year-old man suffered what troopers say was an “unknown medical incident” as he drove south on Interstate 5 Friday afternoon.

About 4:10 p.m., the Longview man suffered that emergency in south Lewis County. He then took Exit 57, drove through an intersection, down a hill and crashed into a fence, according to the Washington State Patrol.

He was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital.

Troopers noted the man was not wearing a seat belt.
