A car and Intercity Transit bus crashed on Wednesday afternoon on a Lacey roundabout, leaving two seriously injured.

Lacey Police Department officers responded at 6:44 p.m. to the crash on Britton Parkway and Willamette Drive.

The two people in the car, a 70-year-old male driver and 32-year-old male passenger, sustained significant injuries, Detective Sergeant Jeremy Knight told The Olympian. They were transported to an area hospital and later to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The three people in the bus, a driver and two passengers, were not injured.

The roundabout closed for about an hour and a half, Knight said. Lacey police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

“I have not heard of, at this time, of any indication of impairment,” Knight said. “But we’re still looking into other causes.”
