Police are asking the public for help finding a suspect after a shooting in the Walmart parking lot in northeast Lacey Monday evening.

A 15-year-old boy is in custody, but police are still looking for a 16-year-old boy and the vehicle he was driving, Lacey Detective Mike Caranto said Tuesday.

Around 6:20 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Galaxy Drive Northeast. Once there, police learned that an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl had driven to the area to meet the two boys in their vehicle. The meeting turned into a confrontation and the 18-year-old was shot in the shoulder, Caranto said.

The man and girl then drove themselves to an area hospital, he said.

During the confrontation, the 15-year-old boy, a passenger in the car, threatened the girl by pointing a gun at her. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, Caranto said.

It’s still not clear who shot the 18-year-old man, he said.

The 16-year-old boy is described as an Asian male with long back hair; the vehicle is a black two-door coupe.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Lacey police at 360-459-4333.
