School supply donations needed for Tumwater event

Volunteers will be collecting school supplies and other donations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fred Meyer and Walmart stores on Littlerock Road in Tumwater.

The “Stuff the Bus” event is organized by Tumwater Public School Employees, the Tumwater School District, TOGETHER and the city of Tumwater. The goal is to fill 600 backpacks that will be delivered to schools for students in need, according to school district spokeswoman Kim Howard.

In addition to school supplies, donations also will be accepted for the Thurston County Food Bank, the YWCA Other Bank, and the South Sound Reading Foundation.
