Driver hospitalized after Mason County collision Tuesday, State Patrol says
A 25-year-old Tacoma driver has been hospitalized after his van collided with a semi-truck in Mason County Tuesday afternoon.
The collision occurred at about 1:20 p.m. on State Route 3 between U.S. 101 and Southeast Arcadia Road, according to a Washington State Patrol Press Memo.
The Tacoma driver reportedly crossed the center line on State Route 3 at Vic King Road and collided with the semi-truck. The Tacoma driver’s van came to a rest on the northbound shoulder while the semi-truck rested on the roadway, the memo says.
In an X post, Trooper Katherine Weatherwax warned drivers to avoid the area because the roadway was fully blocked due to the injury collision.
First responders airlifted the Tacoma driver to Tacoma General Hospital, according to the memo. The driver of the semi-truck, a 57-year-old Olympia man, was not injured in the crash. Both drivers wore their seat belts, WSP notes.
The memo says drugs or alcohol were not involved.
The roadway was closed for about four and half hours after the collision.
