A 44-year-old woman who was hit and killed by a Lacey driver last week on southbound I-5 in Pierce County has been identified, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers say Ginger S. Hartson of Bellevue was standing in a lane near the main gate to Joint Base Lewis-McChord when she was hit about 10:35 p.m. Aug. 26.

Hartson died at the scene.

The 32-year-old Lacey driver and her 8-year-old passenger were not hurt. The Lacey driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Trooper John Dattilo previously said.

The driver also was not impaired, he added.
