A 38-year-old man who was killed in a wreck Monday morning on State Route 507 has been identified by the Thurston County Coroner’s Office.

Esteban A. Herrera died at the scene of the crash.

About 8:35 a.m., Herrera was driving in the southbound lane on state Route 507 between Rainier and Tenino.

Troopers say Herrera drove to the left and crashed into an oncoming vehicle. Both vehicles then went down an embankment, according to Washington State Patrol, and Herrera’s Honda Civic wound up on its top.

A 50-year-old Yelm man driving the oncoming vehicle, a pickup truck, was not injured.

It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, according to State Patrol.
