The Olympia homeless encampment known informally as the Jungle located off Martin Way, will be the focus of a multi-week cleanup effort, the city announced Friday.

The work begins Monday, Sept. 23, and is expected to last four weeks. The camp is on an undeveloped piece of land between Martin Way and Pacific Avenue and west of Ensign Road.

No residents of the camp will be moved, the city said in its announcement. Area businesses will remain open.

However, during the cleanup, traffic on Martin Way will be affected because a section of the street will be reduced to one lane between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
