A 35-year-old pedestrian, who witnesses say appeared to suffer a medical emergency prior to being hit by a vehicle in downtown Olympia, has been identified, according to the Thurston County Coroner.

Laura Willis died about 6 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Plum Street and Fourth Avenue East, about a block from Olympia City Hall.

The cause of her death was multiple blunt force injuries, Coroner Gary Wanock said Sunday.

However, just prior to being hit by the vehicle, a witness said Willis was lying in the road and appeared to be experiencing a seizure, Warnock said.

The driver remained at the scene and no one else was involved in the incident, Olympia Police Lt. Paul Lower told The Olympian.

Based on a preliminary investigation, Lower said police do not suspect this to be a criminal matter. He called it a “very sad situation.”n et6
