Yelm police are seeking more information about a man who was shot last Friday, Oct. 18.

They are unsure of when the shooting took place, although the 36-year-old man showed up about 6:20 p.m. that day at the MultiCare off-campus emergency room in Lacey at Pacific Avenue Southeast at Golf Club Road.

Lacey police were dispatched to the ER and confirmed that the man had been shot in the buttocks, Police Sgt. Jeremy Knight said.

Yelm police think the shooting may have happened in a field between the Walmart in Yelm and Old McKenna Road, said Police Chief Rob Carlson.

The victim is believed to have walked west through that area with his bike, Carlson said. However, police could not find any evidence of a shooting in the area. They also contacted someone in a tent in that field and that person had no information about a shooting.

Not helping matters is that the victim has been uncooperative with police. The man is from Pierce County, so police aren’t sure if the shooting took place at his address or in the field, Carlson said.

Carlson said it isn’t clear how the man managed to get to Lacey.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Yelm police at 360-458-5701.
