The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity and the cause of death of the 91-year-old woman who died after being attacked by her two German Shepherds in Chehalis.

The woman has been identified as Nancy Punches of Chehalis. She died of multiple severe traumatic injuries and animal bites. Her death was labeled an accident.

According to a news release from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched about 2:30 p.m. Sept. 25 to the 400 block of River Road, west of Chehalis, to a call about a dog bite. When they arrived, they found Punches had been attacked by her two dogs, resulting in major trauma to both of her lower arms. She was transported to Adna High School to meet Life Flight to be taken to the hospital. She died on the flight there.

The two dogs were voluntarily turned over by their co-owner and they were euthanized.
