Thurston County firefighters have extinguished a brush and structure fire on Bonnie Lane near Rochester.

According to Thurston County Communications, crews began responding to the fire at about 11:30 a.m. Thurston County Fire District 1 is the lead agency at the scene, but several fire districts from Thurston and Lewis counties have responded.

Five structures were threatened but no homes were burned. Neighbors with garden hoses helped put out the flames, which came within feet of at least one home.
