A 75-year-old driver attempting to turn his vehicle around Monday evening caused a lot of damage near a Lewis County town, according to Washington State Patrol.

About 7:20 p.m., troopers say the driver was headed east on U.S. 12 near the town of Glenoma when he pulled his RV-semi into a gravel driveway and attempted to turn around.

As he did, troopers say the “vehicle struck power lines and knocked down multiple power poles causing damage to several property owners.”

It wasn’t just power poles, according to State Patrol.

The person who first called 911, a representative of Glenoma Fire District 18, reported flag pole and monument damage. Also reporting damage were Astound Broadband, Century Link and Lewis County PUD.

Two Lewis County residents also reported damage. A 57-year-old Glenoma woman said her fence was struck and a 33-year-old Chehalis woman said her car was hit by downed power lines.

The truck driver was not injured, according to State Patrol.
