State lawmakers have approved up to $69 million for a sleek five-story office building to replace a building on the West Capitol Campus.

The building is slated for the corner of Capitol Way and 11th Avenue. The vacant building and a parking garage on the site will be demolished in late August, following asbestos removal.

The state Department of Enterprise Services will hold a public meeting on the project, known as the 1063 Block Replacement Project, from 6-8 p.m. Wednesdayat 1500 Jefferson St. SE in the first-floor meeting room. The project’s architects and state staff will be available.

Slated for completion in August 2017, the high-efficiency building will measure 215,000 square feet and take up an entire block. It will become the new headquarters for the Washington State Patrol.
