Man attacked by bear at JBLM

A man was attacked by a bear Saturday morning at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Officials say the man was a civilian moving around in a restricted training area, and that he was not supposed to be there. It is unclear why he was there, according to officials.

He suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene.

Officials have not yet located the bear. They are looking for the animal to make sure it’s uninjured.
