Olympia area residents should expect wet weather, and the possibility of snow showers, over the weekend and into next week as temperatures fluctuate from the mid 20s to the mid 40s.

According to forecasters, the precipitation that was to begin falling Thursday night is likely to remain rain until Sunday, when it could switch to snow for up to three days.

Between Thursday and Sunday, Feb. 2, Olympia is expected to have high temperatures that range from the low to high 40s with overnight lows around freezing. Expect steady precipitation during that time.

NWS Seattle also predicts that the Olympia area will have snow and snow showers beginning late Saturday through Wednesday, Feb. 5.

There is a 38% chance that Olympia will get 1 inch of snow or more by Sunday morning, according to the most recent NWS Seattle briefing.

NWS Seattle advises people to continue to monitor the forecast for any changes.

“Exact timing and precipitation type are still uncertain at this time, but will likely become more refined as we get closer to the event,” notes NWS Seattle on X.
